This is a very nice 1971-D or 1972 D Ike Dollar Mint Error that was struck on a 50 cent planchet. Even without the date, one can tell it is a 1971 or 1972 because of the Type 1 Earth on the reverse. This error was also struck with clashed dies.
This is evident with the clashed die features of the Talon Head and the UDU (Upside Down U) between the E in WE and Ikes neck. This coin also features a very much die-abraded "Peg Leg". Probably from repairing the clashed die. There is also a random "floating U" in front of Ike's nose that looks to be the U from UNITED, but I have never seen that on a clashed die Ike before and I've worked with the Ike Group on Clashed Die Ikes and errors for many years.
